We are looking for a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer at Hitachi Energy, Transformers business in Jefferson City, MO. This is an opportunity to work with engineering challenges related to specialty transformers. This role includes hands-on participation in different engineering tasks as well as communication with different stakeholders.

Your responsibilities
- Plan, conduct and coordinate various engineering development activities.
- Prepare reports and related documents in accordance with internal and external requirements.
- Lead and participate in customer specification reviews and design reviews to ensure proposed design meets the industry standards, customer specifications and related standards. Recommend revisions when appropriate.
- Provide timely mechanical engineering support to Engineering department as well as to other departments required for day-to-day operation.
- Support in responding to customer inquiries
- Provide technical support in development and qualification of new vendor and parts
- Support in root cause analysis & corrective actions activities.
- Perform various engineering tasks involving such functions as analysis, design, development and test, while working from instructions, drawings, proposals, specifications, and other pertinent information.
- Consult with other engineering groups to ensure that specified engineering criteria are suitable for the proposed application, and recommend revisions, as appropriate.
- Design production transformers for 3PH pad and Unit Substations including the generation of documentation for Customers using 2D and 3D based software, this might represent up to 80% of the workload.
Your Background
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering degree.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical engineering field.
- CAD, and Creo or SolidWorks experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical Design experience in transformers
- Working knowledge in transformer industry standards or similar (IEEE, CSA, IEC)
