The opportunity
We are looking for a student intern (master level) or master thesis worker on GPU Accelerated Power System Simulation. The student will focus on implementing and testing innovative numerical algorithms to support accelerations of large-scale power system simulations. The student will join our Hitachi Energy Research team of Grid Management and Optimization in Mannheim, Germany.
How you'll make an impact
- Literature Review on GPU acceleration of numerical methods
- Further develop existing tools for power flow analysis
- Implement numerical algorithms in Cuda / C++
- Perform benchmarking tests
- Document and present findings
Your background
- Studying computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering or related field
- Good programming skills C++ and / or Cuda / python for fast prototyping
- Preferably experience with scientific computing, numerical algorithms, profiling tools
- Ability to work in a team and have strong team spirit
