The opportunity

HVDC is recruting a Global Manager to lead the Systems Engineering department, inspiring and guiding them to achieve excellence. The Systems Engineering department primarily focuses on developing, governing and supporting the use of Systems Engineering processes and tools within HVDC as well as supporting HVDC projects globally.

The Systems Engineering team supports the organization by providing excellence in requirements management and verification management, helping ensure project quality, and deliveries according to contracts and customer expectations. The team provide both process and method guidance, along with hands-on support for the projects.

As the Global Manager of the Systems Engineering department, you will cultivate a positive and engaging work culture, ensuring every team member feels valued and motivated. The members of the team bring different levels of seniority. As a leader, you'll set clear expectations, objectives, and KPIs, providing continuous support through regular feedback and coaching. Moreover, you'll lead the development and implementation of standardized Systems Engineering processes, tools, and methodologies, enhancing efficiency, quality, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

How you'll make an impact

  • Manage all employee related activities such as recruitment, onboarding, creating opportunities for training & development, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Build and coach the team to a positive work environment, while also ensuring a safe, secure, and compliant workplace.
  • Champion Systems Engineering within the organization, build trust in the processes, help drive understanding and execution on all levels of the organization
  • Plan and evaluate actions to achieve goals and enforcing system, policy, procedure, and productivity standards.
  • Define objectives, establish strategic goals, and assess the outcome of actions taken.
  • Manage budgets, time/cost estimations and resource allocation
  • Liaise with stakeholders and promote cross-functional collaboration and transparency.

Your background

  • University Degree in Engineering, Systems Technologies or related field
  • Experience as a people manager or other relevant leadership experience with personnel responsibility, ideally in a dynamic and global organization.
  • Extensive hands-on experience working with Systems Engineering in large organization
  • Experience working with Systems Engineering standards such as ISO/IEEE/IEC 15288
  • Experience in developing and implementing Systems Engineering process frameworks in organizations
  • Structured, well-organized, and confident to take on the role as the leader of the team.
  • INCOSE SEP certification is a merit
  • Strong communication, social, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees and management.
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken) is required, Swedish is a plus.
