The opportunity
Join our research team at Hitachi Energy in Baden-Dättwil and contribute to the future of sustainable energy. As part of a project focused on HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) systems, you will help model the reliability and availabil-ity of key components that connect renewable energy sources to distant power grids.
You'll work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and gain hands-on experience in reliability engineering and statistical modeling for 6 - 12 months. Please submit your full application in English.
How you'll make an impact
- Develop statistical models for HVDC system reliability
- Create stochastic models for HVDC station components
- Analyze reliability data from power systems
- Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential issues in HVDC systems
- Document and share results with research and business teams
- Support knowledge transfer across teams and collaborators
- Contribute to sustainable energy infrastructure
- Work independently and creatively on technical challenges in collaboration with engineering and data sci-ence experts

Your background
- Enrolled in a M.Sc. in electrical, power, mechanical engineering, physics or applied mathematics
- Understanding of components used in alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC) systems, such as con-verters and cooling systems
- Experience in reliability engineering and statistics
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Able to work autonomously and think creatively
