GPG GPQSS Operations Manager
The Opportunity:
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Global Operations Manager to join the Grid Power Quality Solutions & Service (GPQSS) Global Product Group (GPG). In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the GPQSS project portfolio, including project planning and controls, governance, resource management, and the implementation of standardized processes and tools. You will work closely with the Global Product Group's Operations team to ensure consistent executional excellence across financial performance, quality, on-time delivery, and health & safety, all in alignment with the strategic direction of Hitachi Energy and the Grid Integration business unit. This position reports directly to the Global Product Group Manager for GPQSS and functionally integrates with the Business Unit's Operations Managers team, supporting our commitment to delivering value to customers and partners worldwide.
How You'll Make an Impact:
- Lead the execution and performance management of the GPQSS global project portfolio, in close collaboration with Hitachi Energy's local teams and customers.
- You will be responsible for the GPG GPQSS project execution governance and global portfolio management.
- You will supervise project execution and performance management through project reviews with management and Project Managers - to ensure contract fulfilment and approve any project deviations. You will take an active role in resolving escalated project issues, especially those raised by customers, and ensure that projects are formally closed out, as contractually agreed.
- You will ensure the project portfolio is managed consistently, based on best practices
- Oversee project governance, ensuring consistent application of best practices, company frameworks, and policies across all GPQSS projects.
- Proven ability to lead and drive results across a global, matrixed organization through strategic influence and cross-functional collaboration, without direct reporting lines.
- Work in close partnership with the Contract Management organization to ensure rigorous contract and claims management across all projects, fully aligned with Hitachi Energy's policies and customer contractual obligations.
- Conduct project reviews with management and Project Managers, resolve escalated issues-especially customer-related-and ensure proper project closure as per contractual agreements.
- Drive the implementation of global standards, tools, procedures, and digitalization initiatives to support operational excellence, scalability, and financial stability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and internal/external stakeholders, while supporting the Business Unit's strategic direction globally.
- Lead and coach project execution teams to improve efficiency, cash flow, revenue, and profitability, while ensuring teams are properly staffed, skilled, and certified.
- Participate in Sales & Operations Planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives, aligning with Business Unit and Global Product Group strategies.
- Ensure consistent application of contract and claims management across all projects, in line with Hitachi Energy policies and contractual obligations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to support successful project execution.
- Define and lead the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives for global project operations, aligned with the strategies of the Business Unit and Global Product Group.
Your background:
- You are driven, results-oriented, and passionate about leadership-focused on developing your team and fostering strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- You are a confident communicator, capable of engaging effectively beyond your immediate organizational responsibilities.
- You enjoy leading, motivating, and developing people, and have a proven ability to build strong, trust-based relationships.
- You bring solid experience in the utility and/or industrial infrastructure project business, having successfully managed large, complex projects with contractual, financial, and technical dimensions.
- You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering and have at least 15 years of experience in large project-based environments.
