Main Accountabilities

Market analysis

Conduct comprehensive market/segment technical analysis and trend identification by evaluating international and regional standards, regulations, and customer specifications to assess their impact on the dry type transformer portfolio.

Analyze market and segment technical requirements to validate trends and identify product gaps, while performing competitive assessments to pinpoint opportunities for improvement and differentiation.

Existing product portfolio management

Supports the global product manager in managing the existing product portfolio by maintaining and updating technical specifications to promote dry type transformers value and ensure competitiveness in the market.

Oversee performance improvement initiatives (competitiveness, design to value) through benchmarking and quality feedback while handling the phased-out support for assigned products with a high focus on mainstream dry type transformers.

Clarifies positioning of dry type transformers which serve different applications with defined values per product line to address different segment needs.

Product standards and compliance management

Follow product standards and compliance by monitoring and enforcing adherence to international regulations, industry standards, and customer-specific requirements throughout the dry type transformer product lifecycle.

New product development and portfolio management

Support new product development and portfolio management by translating standards, market requirements, and customer needs into actionable inputs for the product roadmap.

Assist in finalizing market and technical requirement specifications (MRS and TRS) for new products and technology transfers, while approving technical outcomes of development projects.

Collaborate with the Global Product Manager to create robust business cases that emphasize sustainability and validate product performance through the collection and analysis of market technical data.

Product marketing documentation

Prepare comprehensive technical and promotional marketing materials, such as white papers and presentations, to support new product launches and clarify product positioning and value proposition within the portfolio, connecting product performances and features with customer values for the application.

Act as a liaison among product management, engineering teams, application engineering, and marketing to deliver technical insights and promotional support. Engage in customer meetings and trade shows to gather feedback and better understand market needs and customer pain points.

Training and support

Develop and deliver comprehensive training materials and sessions to support cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and sales.

Ensure that all teams are informed about market conditions, competition, quality, configurations, and product updates to enhance their technical skills and sales capabilities.

Key Tasks

  • Conduct market/segment technical analysis on standards and specifications.
  • Identify trends and product gaps in market requirements.
  • Perform competitive assessments for improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain technical specifications for the product portfolio.
  • Driving internal benchmarking and sharing results with HUBs/factories, defining improvement actions by factory and following up the implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Translate market requirements into product roadmap and technical requirement specification inputs.
  • Finalize technical requirements for new products and technology transfers.
  • Actively participate in R&D projects execution.
  • Prepare materials for product launches and positioning.
  • Preparing white papers for relevant customer events.
  • Act as a liaison between product management, engineering, production and supply chain.
  • Engage with customers during meetings and trade shows.
  • Develop training materials for cross-functional teams.
  • Deliver training sessions on product updates and market conditions.
  • Provide ongoing sales support and technical insights.
  • Validate product performance according to defined KPIs.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in R&D, product/technology development or engineering in dry type transformers
  • Strong technical understanding of dry type transformers, energy solutions and industry technologies to effectively communicate product benefits and differentiate offerings.
  • Proven ability to conduct competitive assessments to drive product development.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Fluent English

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Global Product Specialist for mainstream business of Dry-type transformers to join our innovative team in any of these locations: Raleigh/USA, Bland/USA, Savli/India, Vadodara/India, Cheonan/South Korea, Zaragoza/Spain, Shanghai/China. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the global product manager in managing the dry-type transformer product portfolio, conducting comprehensive market/segment technical analysis, and supporting the development of cutting-edge products. Your background
