Field Service Engineer - Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS)

As a Field Service Engineer - Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), you'll be a key player in our High Voltage Services team, leading the installation, commissioning, and servicing of GIS systems across North America.

This role places you at the center of high-impact projects, working with voltages from 69kV to 800kV. You'll represent Hitachi Energy on-site, collaborating with contractors, suppliers, and customers to bring complex systems online safely and effectively. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus contingent upon: (1) successful completion of hiring process, (2) completion of onboarding requirements, and (3) execution of sign-on bonus agreement with terms and conditions.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Lead technical field assignments and make critical decisions
• Direct the work of field teams and subcontractors
• Manage productivity to ensure timely project completion
• Ensure adherence to drawings, specifications, and quality standards
• Promote safe practices and meet health, safety, and environmental requirements
• Supervise the installation and commissioning of high-voltage GIS substations
• Conduct frequent inspections and document pertinent information
• Plan, schedule, and lead on-site weekly progress meetings
• Perform and document field testing on equipment
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines

• College or university diploma/degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in service or construction management with high-voltage equipment
• Hands-on experience in substation construction, servicing, and commissioning
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitudes
• Proven leadership experience in coordinating and leading crews
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and MS Project
• Physical ability to work on-site, including climbing and lifting
• Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
