The opportunity

Under the direction of the Head of Communications for Japan and South Korea, this position is responsible for providing support to promote synergies and further momentum in the HE business, with a focus on external and internal communications work.

How you'll make an impact

  • You will be preparing of Japanese press release for global announcements, Japan announcements, and regional press re leases relevant to Japanese audience (prepare Japanese press release and Q&A to deliver announcement and to share with Hitachi PR and IR teams prior to the announcement) and register press release dates on the Hitachi announcement planner (to avoid overlaps as much as possible).
  • You will work with Hitachi PR team for press release distribution to the media and work with Hitachi and Hitachi Energy website team to post press release on Hitachi global press release website and Hitachi Energy's Japanese website, do media follow up and collate media coverage report (Japanese and English) to share with Hitachi and Hitachi Energy.
  • You will be planning and preparing for media interviews, sharing interview schedules and meeting notes with Hitachi & Hitachi Energy PR and will ensure the preparation of the planning for joint announcements (with other businesses or external business partners) and support the preparation of reactive comments, Q&A (to talk to the media & to share with Hitachi Energy Crisis Team & Hitachi PR).
  • You will specifically, this includes creating messages aligned with the overall corporate messages of both Hitachi and Hitachi Energy, reviewing messages, producing appropriate Japanese translations and will manage outgoing messages - especially those intended for external audiences-by ensuring our content, translation, and grammar are accurate and easy to understand.
  • There are no limitations on channels or content. In other words, the person is responsible for ensuring that corporate messages are accurate, appropriate, and correctly translated into Japanese / English, not only in media responses, but also in video content, social media message, documents, presentations, website and other formats.
  • You will lead the end-to-end process for creating presentation materials for Hitachi Energy at Japan-hosted events, including planning the content, developing materials, and providing on-site support. This work is carried out in close collaboration with relevant departments, and involves coordination with global teams, Hitachi Energy Japan sales, and Hitachi Ltd. sales.
  • You will develop and implement strategic internal communications plans for Hitachi Energy Japan, based on global communications and internal communications priorities, tailored to local employee needs. Execute optimal internal communications activities by leveraging various tools (e-mail, viva engage, newsletter, website etc).
  • You will discuss and collaborate with CMD, BU, and HR members of Hitachi Energy Japan to develop optimal content aimed at enhancing employee motivation and engagement, will support the preparation of regular internal communications for Hitachi's Energy Sector in collaboration with Hitachi sales and provide Hitachi Energy Global for finalization with Executives.
  • You will support for town halls in Japan hosted by the local team or with international guests, will support effective leader & manager communications and support BU's communications as/if needed.
  • You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • You hold a bachelor's degree in media, or any related field.
  • Required with more than 5 years engaged in public relations activities, including media response.
  • Experience in internal communications is preferable but not required.
  • Public relations experience in the B2B industry is a plus, though the industry of prior PR experience is not limited.
  • Be willing to travel as needed
  • Japanese proficiency to native level is a must.
  • Proficiency in business level in verbal and written English.
