Cluster Lead Contract Manager - CEU HVDC (f/m/d)

The opportunity

As the Cluster Lead Contract Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of complex, high-impact projects that enable a more sustainable and reliable power network across Central Europe Cluster (CEU). Based in Mannheim, DE with a flexible hybrid working model, you will be part of our Grid Integration business (DEHVDC) , collaborating with diverse, high-performing teams across the region and beyond.

In this role, you will lead a skilled team and contribute to the performance of contract management across a portfolio of major projects. Acting as a trusted partner, you will support all aspects of contract and subcontract administration, ensuring that contract and risk management activities are executed accurately and in a timely manner throughout the project lifecycle. Your ability to provide clear guidance, engage stakeholders, and represent business interests with professionalism will be essential to driving successful project outcomes.

You will take a hands-on, analytical, and forward-thinking approach, enabling effective decision-making, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and supporting continuous improvement across the function.

Projects may require travel to Sweden, clients and sites' locations across EU as well as other regions, offering valuable exposure to international teams and cutting-edge HVDC technologies that are shaping the global energy transition.

How you'll make an impact

  • Lead contract and claim management activities across a portfolio of HVDC projects, ensuring alignment with internal procedures and strategic objectives
  • Provide leadership and expert guidance to cross-functional project teams on contract interpretation, administration, and best practices
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation and opportunity plans, using structured approaches to protect and enhance project value
  • Manage variation and claim strategies, including early identification, preparation, negotiation, and resolution of complex claims and disputes
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders, confidently representing business interests
  • Oversee resource planning, recruitment, and capacity forecasting to support a growing project portfolio and ensure optimal team performance
  • Drive continuous improvement by contributing to process design, sharing lessons learned, and collaborating with global contract management teams
  • Represent contract management in project boards, steering committees, and management reviews, providing insights and recommending corrective actions

Your background

  • Degree in engineering, law, business administration, quantity surveying, economics, or a related discipline
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in FIDIC and other bespoke contracts.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing teams within a matrix organization, with a focus on collaboration and performance
  • Proven experience in EPC projects or complex infrastructure environments, ideally within power transmission, grid integration, or similar sector within the CEU and DE market.
  • Strong expertise in contract lifecycle management, including change management, claims, dispute resolution, and contract-related legal considerations in DE.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build trust with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Must be fluent in German and English, any other EU language shall be a plus.
