C & P HVDC Hardware Design Engineer

The opportunity:

As an Associate project engineer, you will join an aspiring team that works with the HVDC Power transmission links. It is a diverse and independent job, within our project groups, with lots of responsibility and you will have great opportunities to develop your skills within HVDC. Our department is responsible for the C&P hardware design of HVDC system. This includes design, documentation, testing, supervising the installation and commissioning of the control and protection systems. Supporting and supervising on-site installation and commissioning around the world is an important part of our business offering.

How you'll make an impact:

  • You will implement Control and Protection- Hardware solutions for High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) plants within a team of engineers.
  • You will prepare Design Specifications, Overview Diagrams and Concept Clarifications in close cooperation with the concept coordinators, prepare manufacturer documentation (GA, Scheme drawings, BoM) for control and protection panels / cubicles and junction / marshalling boxes, preparation of Cable Schedule & Termination details.
  • You will be participating in or leading design review meetings to detect design errors, process and tool inefficiencies, and putting in place corrective and improvement actions.
  • You will support project execution & deliver project tasks according to the time plan and with right quality.
  • You will understand the contract scope and ensure awareness on the customer requirements.
  • You will be taking Initiative in engineering Process optimizations, standardization etc.
  • You will closely interacting with project team and support the team for smooth execution of project. You will be interacting with multiple departments for the co-ordination and smooth execution of project.
  • You will be providing necessary support during Functional Performance tests and Site Commissioning.
  • You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

  • You hold a bachelor's degree.
  • Have CRP panel design for AC/DC substations with a minimum work experience of 3+ years.
  • Technology knowledge of basic panel design with control & protection function for T&D required, engineering Base tool knowledge is preferred.
  • Exposure in Engineering Base (EBASE) tool for Cubicle design and Plant Circuit diagram, exposure/ basic knowledge in International electrical (IEEE/IEC) Standards.
  • Experience in HVDC projects and site work execution in the relevant area will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge & Experience MS Office Word, Excel.
  • Ability to work independently maintaining excellent quality and optimized design in developing deliverables, self-starter calibre who could own tasks through to completion, strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
