Senior Scala/Java Software Engineer

What's the role?

OneSearch Team 

The OneSearch team at HERE is looking for a Software Engineer to join our global squad in the USA, India, Poland or Germany.

You’ll help power Geocoding and Search, our service that turns raw addresses and POIs into precise, reliable locations for everything from in-car navigation to enterprise logistics solutions handling thousands of queries per second.

In this role, you’ll prepare and optimize map data for countries with strict local regulations, collaborate with internal stakeholders to monitor and boost data quality, and ensure our users always get the answers they need: “Where is this address?”, “Find me the nearest supermarket,” or simply “Where am I?” 

In this role, you will:  

• Work with big data, the HERE base map, and condense the important part for Geocoder and Search from it. 

• Constantly monitor and improve the data compilation process. 

• Adapt changes in the input data. 

• Prepare the data for new features in Geocoder and Search. 

• Work in compliance with security and operational guidelines. 

• Apply and extend tools and take end-to-end ownership of the data processing stack. 

Who are you?

You are a team-player who collaborates with other developers, architects, testers and product owners to create an amazing user experience. You have experience with all aspects of the production software lifecycle. You have good interpersonal skills and feel comfortable working across teams. You are a fast learner, with an eye for detail, strong problem-solving and debugging skills. You really own a project and make it a success. 

We are a global company with teams in multiple countries. You need good communication skills in English (verbal and written) and work in a in multi-cultural and multi-functional environment. You are interested in location-based services and data in addition to the following qualities: 

• Proven proficiency in software development and architecture. 

• Programming experience in Java or Scala. 

• Experience with big data, Hadoop MapReduce and Apache Spark. 

• Experience with build tools like Maven. 

• Experience in AWS in general and AWS EMR in particular. 

• Understanding of modern microservice architectures. 
  Located in Poland.

Furthermore, it would be good if you have: 

• Experience in Docker/Kubernetes, GitLab/GitLab CI 

• Experiance in NodeJS/Javascript 

• Experience in Bash Scripting. 

• Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Splunk 
• Knowledge of the HTTP protocol, REST and JSON
