HERE Architecture team is looking for an experienced and passionate Principal Architect (Embedded/ Mobile); someone who will work closely with HERE Navigation team. The HERE Navigation team is building a next-generation, highly customizable embedded navigation product. We are an international team of engineers, designers and product managers working in an agile environment.

You will be part of the automotive business unit in Berlin where we build best-in-class navigation experiences. Berlin is a truly global site with over 50 different nationalities from around the world. 

 

As a Principal Architect for the Android Integration you will help us plan and document the architecture of cutting edge navigation systems and enablers for highly automated driving and advanced driver assistance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design and evolution of the HERE Navigation system's software architecture.
  • Maintaining hands-on involvement to deeply understand the system’s internals.
  • Collaborating daily with engineering teams to ensure alignment between product development and deployment.
  • Acting as a key liaison, bridging technical and product perspectives to optimize product usage and customer satisfaction.
  • Providing architecture integration and troubleshooting support for strategic customer cases.
  • Demonstrating the ability to navigate between high-level architectural strategies and detailed component-level insights.
  • Leveraging a comprehensive understanding of the system to enhance its robustness, scalability, and performance.

Who are you?

This demands a successful candidate to have both a hands-on pragmatic approach and an analytical mindset with a solid theoretical basis. A background as lead developer or architect with experience in working on low level will be helpful. We expect a successful candidate to take initiative and work independently against agreed targets, and organize his or her work without excessive direction, so past project management experience is appreciated.  

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 10+ years of experience in delivering software products or systems in various roles 
  • 5+ years of experience developing or operating android or automotive software 
  • Fluent in 2 or more contemporary programming languages (C++, Python, TypeScript, Kotlin) 
  • Experience with Performance Optimization and Debugging Embedded Automotive Systems 
  • Experience with API design and maintenance of APIs 
  • Experience with Android Software Development 
  • Knowledge of formal specification languages (UML) and the prose around them  
  • Project Management experience is appreciated 
  • M.Sc. or higher degree in a relevant field (CS, EE, Math)
