How You'll Make An Impact
As a Senior Product Designer embedded inside a specialised squad focused on performance, scalability, and user experience improvements, you'll play a key role in optimising our product while shaping the future of our design system and component library. Your work will ensure that our product remains intuitive, accessible, and scalable, improving workflows for dental professionals while driving consistency and performance across our platform.
Initially, you'll focus on a programme of product optimisation, refining our core user experience. Over time, this role will evolve into a foundational position in the development of our design system, collaborating closely with engineers to create a robust, reusable component library.
You'll be part of a cross-functional squad, working alongside 4 front-end engineers, a product manager, and a fractional UX researcher to deliver high-impact product improvements. You'll also be joining a community of five other Product Designers, reporting to the Head of Design, and contributing to our broader design strategy. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work flexibly from anywhere in the UK.
About The Team
This role is a unique opportunity to shape the design system from the ground up, creating the foundation for a more cohesive and scalable design approach across Dentally's growing ecosystem. You'll work closely with a tight-knit team of experienced designers, contributing to and learning from a broader design community within the company.
What You'll Do
- Lead the optimisation of our core product experience, improving usability, consistency, and efficiency.
- Work within a cross-functional squad, partnering with four front-end developers, a product manager, and a fractional UX researcher to deliver design-led improvements.
- Conduct UI audits and identify inconsistencies, streamlining design patterns for a more cohesive experience.
- Balance short-term product optimisation with long-term design system strategy, ensuring incremental improvements drive towards a scalable solution
- Drive the creation of our design system and component library, ensuring consistency and scalability across the platform.
- Collaborate closely with engineers to implement, test, and refine components, ensuring seamless integration into the front-end codebase.
- Define and document design system standards, ensuring clear guidelines for usage, accessibility, and implementation.
- Contribute to a culture of open collaboration, sharing work early and often with stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Engage with the wider design community, collaborating with other designers to align on best practices and future strategy.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and innovations in design systems, bringing best practices into our work.
What You'll Bring With You
- 6+ years in product design, with specialist experience in design systems and UI optimisation.
- Expert in Figma, building and maintaining scalable components.
- Experience working closely with front-end engineers on implementation.
- Systems thinker, ensuring consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of accessibility best practices (WCAG).
- Skilled in UI audits and streamlining design patterns.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in building strong relationships with engineers, fostering a collaborative and approachable dynamic.
- Be an active part of our design community, sharing knowledge, collaborating on best practices, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
