Good Housekeeping Institute is looking for a Homes Testing Manager. The successful applicant will lead this testing category and help drive revenue and expertise across Good Housekeeping magazine and as well as online. The Homes testing team are responsible for testing everything from washing machines and slow cookers to vacuum cleaners and coffee machines for editorial content and commercial purposes. Built on decades of product testing and expert editorial know-how, the results of our testing can influence purchasing decisions and assure consumers of the quality and value of a product or service.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be responsible for overseeing the team's testing deliverables, schedules and quality of output so that the content team can create great content for all Hearst brands. You will help create and be responsible for delivering the Homes testing strategy across editorial and commercial platforms with content In Good Housekeeping and at times In Men's Health, Women's Health titles.

You will work closely with the Head of Testing and the Homes testing team to build robust testing protocols and processes. You will also work independently when leading a testing project and directing your team with theirs.

You will be involved in internal meetings with key stakeholders from editorial and commercial teams, which will involve initiating ideas and protocols for testing and suggesting ways to drive revenue and raise the profile of the Homes testing division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to generate and maintain the testing strategy for the Homes category.
  • Assist Commercial and Accreditation team in building relationships for revenue streams.
  • Create and update testing protocols for the categories on the testing calendar.
  • Utilise our communities to recruit a diverse panel of testers for projects and testing.
  • Deliver the categories on the testing calendar within pre-agreed timescales and to a high standard.
  • To sustain high testing standards of professionalism and consistency.
  • Oversee commercial projects related to your category and deliver results to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure database systems are accurate for working with the Head of Content to create a more efficient process where necessary.
  • Responsible for budgets and Homes testing team KPIs.
  • Occasional PR spokesperson on behalf of the category for TV and/or radio interviews.
  • To be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.
  • You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.
ABOUT YOU
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a practical testing environment and a passion for household products.
  • Management experience.
  • Project management experience
  • Someone with a willingness to be hands-on with product tests.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading projects and managing multiple projects.
  • Eagerness to try new and inventive products.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deal with high volumes of work accurately and to deadline.
  • Must have a can-do attitude with ability to work under pressure, be enthusiastic and proactive.
This role is based in Feltham and will involve 4 days in the office with 1 WFH.
