Midland Daily News is seeking a highly motivated City Reporter to cover local government, business and community news in Midland, Bay City and the surrounding area.
We are looking for a journalist who can deliver stories quickly and accurately, who is curious about and interested in the communities they cover, and who has a proven ability to connect with sources. This journalist is responsible for creating content with our digital audience in mind, whether that is breaking news, a long-term enterprise project or a feature profile.

What you will do:
- Learn and employ all techniques for effective digital storytelling and SEO.
- Maintain clear communication with editors.
- Meet daily deadlines.
- Contribute to a positive culture of teamwork and collaboration.
- Degree in journalism, communications or related field.
- Some experience in news reporting.
- An interest in covering city politics and business.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong reporting, writing, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom and reprioritize assignments as news breaks.
