Your impact:

Hearst's Enthusiast Group (Runner's World, Bicycling, Popular Mechanics, Biography, and Best Products) is looking for a dynamic multimedia editor to produce highly engaging motion and audio content that lives across various platforms of the Enthusiast brands. The multimedia editor will generate and distribute content that supports the group's membership, affiliate, and licensing goals, and makes an impact within and beyond our endemic communities.

Working with the guidance and supervision of the Deputy Editor of Social Media and other senior editorial staff, including the directors of Service, Product, and Test content, the multimedia editor will spearhead the creation of succinct and compelling video clips that not only enhance the authenticity and credibility of our expert gear reviews and hands-on test stories, but also generate revenue through accolades and licensing opportunities with external brands.

You'll also develop captivating audio content, especially video podcasts that showcase the real-life experiences of our brands' members, editors, and other experts. This content will primarily focus on the benefits of our tentpole service-based programs, such as interactive training courses, aiming to provide additional value for our existing members, as well as transform new users into paid members.

The ideal candidate brings a combination of technical audio and visual skills and a forward-thinking, contagious creative vision. You have an engaging personality on camera and behind a microphone, and an enthusiasm for our brands' core areas of interest, especially running, cycling, and an innate curiosity for how the world works.

The role is based in the Enthusiast Group headquarters in Easton, Pennsylvania; we will not be able to accommodate remote workers.

Please note: For consideration, resumes must be submitted in PDF format with a cover letter, salary requirements, and a link to a portfolio of work.

What you'll do:
  • Film editors and testers using and demonstrating products-everything from running shoes to chainsaws-with precision, ensuring that each demonstration is informative, visually appealing, and reflects our editorial standards
  • Plan and organize all motion content production, aligning schedules with editorial needs to ensure timely and impactful releases
  • Collaborate closely with editors from all content teams to conceptualize, execute, and publish motion and audio content that aligns with established performance metrics
  • Edit motion clips, collaborating with editorial teams to optimize distribution through various channels, including on site and social platforms
  • Host and moderate engaging podcast interviews that illuminate the experiences and knowledge of editors, experts, and members, specifically focusing on the enriched content and programs offered to our members
  • Oversee the technical aspects of audio and video podcast production, from recording to editing, adapting content length for different platforms and audience consumption habits
  • Leverage analytics tools to monitor performance, extract insights, and steer the development of new content ideas that align with our performance metrics and enhance brand value
What you'll bring:
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in video and audio content creation, including filming, editing, and producing multimedia content across various digital platforms
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage content schedules effectively and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines
  • An entrepreneurial drive, with extensive experience managing entire content life cycles, from ideation and creation to production and distribution
  • Exceptional interviewing and communication skills, with the ability to foster meaningful conversations, craft compelling narratives, and draw out actionable insights
  • A real understanding of and passion for our brands' core areas of interest, especially running, cycling, and tools and technology
  • Capability and experience in editing a large volume of audio and visual content to fulfill our overall goals
  • Proficiency with audio and video editing tools (such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Audacity) and familiarity with content management systems (CMS)
  • Deep experience or familiarity with the biggest social media platforms and the best practices for content sharing and promotion on these channels
  • A results-driven mindset with demonstrated success in creating content that drives audience engagement
  • Flexibility to manage feedback from multiple parties and a willingness to adapt to fast-changing priorities
  • The capacity to juggle and progress multiple projects simultaneously without compromising on deadlines or content quality
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as Journalism, Communications, Film Production) or equivalent professional experience
