The Job

The Dotcom team is a friendly, energetic engineering group responsible for the primary customer-facing hbomax.com web site that attracts millions of visitors through SEO, paid advertising, and partner relationships. On our team, your work will be the conduit to convert visitors into customers and is highly visible. We work closely with product, SEO, marketing, content, experimentation, and design to develop features and tools that empower our teams to build, deploy, and serve world-class, high-conversion, data-driven pages. We-re looking for Engineers that have an interest in the space and a passion for creating great software.

As a Drupal Engineer on WarnerMedia-s HBO Max Dotcom team, you will design and build solutions that improve CMS tooling and integration in our headless publishing platform. Join us as we expand our services across the globe and develop an international CMS from the ground up that will be used by hundreds of internal users. You will work closely with the best engineers as an integral part of a custom publishing platform, which reaches millions of users every month. You will own and improve systems that bridge between teams and will underpin the roadmap of the product for years to come. By joining our team, you-ll have a rare opportunity to design and build noteworthy components to support a major new service from the ground up, and your work will help attract millions of customers to the service. In this role you will join a growing team with many opportunities for you to expand your scope and influence. You will use your experience to make smart engineering decisions and own critical areas of a product used by millions of customers.   • Create and evaluate multiple technical approaches and drive consensus with peers
  • Use data to solve real world problems and improve customer experience
  • Collaborate and partner with engineers of all levels with varying skillsets and programming backgrounds
  • Work with designers, product managers, and marketers to optimize and build CMS tooling and features
  • Handle operational issues and troubleshoot bugs independently
  • Work in an agile environment, working with peers to review code and deploy world-class features

The Essentials
  • 5+ years of experience with object-oriented PHP 7 and Drupal 8/9 development
  • Be passionate about software engineering with a strong sense of ownership for the code that you and your team write
  • A strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and operating systems
  • Solid SQL database understanding, including performance and security
  • Be a quick learner that can leverage surrounding resources to solve problems
  • Seek self-improvement and adapt to suggestions and feedback
  • Hold yourself and your team to high standards while maintaining respectful relationships
  • Be passionate about software engineering with a strong sense of ownership for the code that you and your team write
  • Ability to provide periodic on-call support for critical emergent customer-facing issues
  • Full working knowledge of Git version control
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Appreciates headless CMS architecture and decoupled frontend apps
  • Experience integrating and building APIs
  • Comfortable with command line shell and Drush commands
  • A passion for learning, sharing knowledge, mentoring, and working in a team setting with engineers of varying levels of experience
  • Passion for collaboration, and fun is a must!

Nice to Haves
  • Bachelor-s degree in an engineering or science-related discipline
  • Passion for test driven development
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries and Drupal Entity Queries
  • Success in designing and building highly available systems at scale
  • Experience with a variety of back-end persistence, queuing and networking technologies, especially Redis, SMS, SQS, and SNS
  • DevOps experience with any of the following: NginX, Apache, MemCache, Varnish, Kubernetes, Docker
  • Familiarity with Node.js
