We are currently seeking a Pre-K Learning Specialist for the 24'-25' SY! The LS will bring a passion for the mission of HCZ Gems, to get all our scholars to and through college. The ideal candidate cares deeply about children, respects the culture of Harlem's residents, and is eager to make an impact in Harlem and beyond.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years teaching experience required
  • Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Students with Disabilities Birth-Grade 2 or All Grades required
  • Dedication and commitment to the mission of HCZ Promise Academy
  • 2 - 5 years teaching experience in an urban school setting is desired
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Incoming teacher salaries are determined based on their number of years of experience as a lead teacher, level of education (bachelor's, or master's degree), and certification.

In addition, we provide our educators with the resources they need to be successful. You will receive a personal laptop, smartboards, and tablets; bi-weekly professional development; and the support of a team of academic coaches, deans, guidance counselors, and social workers who are committed to ensuring the success of all our scholars.

What you will do

  • Provide high-quality early learning program that incorporates evidence-based practices and instructional activities within and outside of the classroom through a push-in and pull-out model.
  • Differentiate instruction based on data and student needs
  • Develop and implement individual educational plans for children, which supports their development socially, intellectually, linguistically, physically, and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their age and stage of development
  • Develop effective instruction tailored to students' needs and interests
  • Administer, collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data gathered from a variety of assessments on each student
  • Lead efforts to identify and appropriately support special education students
  • Coordinate with colleagues and any necessary external agencies to ensure each student is effectively supported to achieve developmentally appropriate outcomes
  • Reflect regularly on data from student assessments along with colleagues, administration, or students' families to modify practices and increase student achievement
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Form meaningful relationships with families and involve parents in their children's education
  • Collaborate with administrators, specialists and other colleagues in designing, reviewing, and executing lessons, including participating in collaborative planning and, as appropriate, peer review of learning experiences
  • Provide a nurturing environment and model positive behavior for students
  • Oversee and develop education support staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned
