HR Analyst

Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) - a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York - seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned HR Analyst to join our team.

The HR Analyst will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

HCZ has an immediate opportunity for an HR Analyst to support our HR teams and business leaders with the development of data models and dashboard reports to provide historical trends and future projections for organization workforce analytics applications. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting human capital organizations with data-driven decision-making in the areas of performance management, employee engagement, compensation management, learning management and offboarding. The candidate must possess strong technical capability with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau and/or similar. This position is hybrid and reports to the CHRO.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Information Technology or similar field
  • 2+ years of experience supporting the workforce analytic requirements of human resource organizations, working with data/analytics or similar work
  • Possess technical certification in Power BI, Tableau and/or Qlik

Who you are

  • Advanced Excel skills required, including pivot tables and v-lookup, and the ability to research Excel skills
  • Experience with HRIS/Payroll processing systems (ADP, UKG, Lever, iCims, Paylocity, ETC.)
  • Exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations

What you'll do

  • Supports required reporting & analytics needs across functional HR teams
  • Evaluate people data to identify trends and recommend enhancements for core people metrics
  • Supports the development and definition of performance metrics (KPIs) that provide insight into key trends impacting business performance
  • Supports the development of HR reports, analyses, insights, dashboards, visualizations, and infographics on crucial employee lifecycle metrics (e.g., turnover, recruiting metrics, 5500, EEOC, ACA, OSHA, WC, etc.) to enable data-driven decision-making processes
  • Supports HR analytics in the organization by researching best practices and trends in the people analytics space
  • Uses knowledge of HR data to produce data-informed insights using HR employee lifecycle analysis to support strategic decision-making for HR and the organization
  • Performs reporting audits across HR functions and systems on an ongoing basis
  • Set and maintain a regular cadence of reports and audits across all business units
  • Assists team with systems implementation, rollout, and functionality testing
  • Provides support activities, including researching, resolving reporting issues, and supporting training initiatives across all systems
  • Own and deliver on all requests for workforce data from the business, ensuring data privacy/security, data governance practices and process accountability
  • Assists in completing special projects by clarifying project objectives, meeting set timetables and schedules, conducting research, developing and organizing information and fulfilling transactions.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with employees and other sensitive data
  • Performs Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
