Primary Objective of Position:

As a member of the Korean Leadership Team (KLT), to participate in the definition and implementation of the overall strategy of the GSK business in Korea. Ensure strategic development of the Finance functions to meet the needs of the GSK business in Korea. To ensure timely and efficient financial planning, controlling, and reporting to accelerate the achievement of strategic goals in the market.

The role is also accountable for legal and statutory compliance including personal liability for the local legal entity and upholding of the compliance of financial controls in a SOX environment.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership to the Business
  • Lead together with the GM the formulation and implementation of long-term strategic plans. Provide financial leadership to strategic decision making in country to maximize Korea Pharma results (sales, operating profit, cash flow).
  • Provide insightful financial and business input to decision making and evaluation of strategic options to optimize resource allocation and Return on Investment (ROI). Provide key counsel to the General Manager and LT member on business issues whilst supporting, advising and partnering with all Departments to improve the health of the Korean business.
  • Lead performance management: ensure Korea and GCI management are provided with a complete and reliable flow of financial information which accurately reflects the performance whilst providing and hold up decisions with the right internal and external benchmarks.
  • Develop a deep knowledge of business fundamentals including the economic, commercial and regulatory environment, key customer and competitor dynamics. This should also include a deep understanding the route to market & gross to net should the different channels.
  • Provide a Financial and Risk advise into the oversight of Commercial partners (CPPs) and also provide input and financial analysis to support the management of Korean Labour Union collaborations.
  • Tight management of overhead expenses
Statutory & Legal Compliance and Controls
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of all controlling and accounting activities including statutory and tax reporting based on the services provided by the responsible organizations (Tax partner KPMG, Finance Hub, Procurement etc) as per the approved RACIs.
  • Contributes to corporate financial and tax policies to ensure they are in accordance with local laws and regulations. Ensures compliance with those in country.
  • Ensures that financial controls delivered (Korea in a SOX entity) by service providers are in accordance with current local and International legislation (audit standards, local laws etc.).
  • Be the key Point of contact for external audits such as Tax, customs and others
  • Be active in the external environment groups (e.g. European Chamber of commerce) in terms of sharing practices across CFOs of other multinationals.

Experience / Knowledge / Technical Skills Required:
  • Business Degree
  • Professional Accounting designation
  • More than 10 Years Accounting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of financial management & accounting theory, practices standards & internal controls.

  • Demonstrated resiliency & adaptability to lead the finance function in a complex, marketing driven environment.
  • Proven team builder, ability to motivate, coach & develop people
  • Leverage accounting knowledge to assist attainment of business objectives
  • Benchmark efficiency against other operations & recommend strategies
