Purpose of the role:
The Production Manager is responsible for all facets of day-to-day production within the Herentals facility including adhering to accepted safety, quality, and productivity standards within company policy and approved budgets.
Tasks & responsibilities:
- Plans operations to coordinate with master production schedule and other shifts activities to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in time, cost & effective manner.
- Development & follow up of overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
- Execution/fulfillment of weekly manufacturing plan.
- Coordinates operations activities with Quality Systems, R&D, Engineering, Customer Service and Planning to improve efficiency and quality.
- Actively participates in the company continuous improvement program (i.e. GPS, kaizen events, GEMBA walks, etc.).
- Actively participate in the Employee safety committee.
- Evaluates and recommends improvements in methods, procedures and processes.
- Ensures that Good Manufacturing Practices and Audit requirements are met.
- Manages production team safety including training material definition, training support and accident investigation.
- Works with Engineering and Maintenance to manage installation and startup of capital projects.
- Closely monitors mixing and packaging operations to ensure that schedule attainment, efficiency, and quality goals are met.
- Supervises directly or through supervisors the production activities to achieve goals.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Is responsible of planning, assigning, and directing work as well as appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees.
- Is responsible of interviewing, selecting and hiring new team members as well as onboarding and coordinating new employees training.
- Is responsible along with the training coordinator of designing proper training program for employees.
- Trains employees on operating, safety, and quality procedures.
- Responsible for Talent Management Process for staff including performance reviews, training and counseling.
- Is responsible of addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Is responsible of managing the overtime assignment and utilization supporting production plan and budget goals.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
- 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Other technical knowledge about food safety and employee safety is desired.
- Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, and customers.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Ability to calculate and understand business indices.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
