Salary Range for Chicago Area - $120K - $145K
Responsible for developing and implementing engineering standards and best practices while coaching and enhancing the competency of global engineering teams. This key technical role ensures compliance with industry regulations, improves product quality, and drives cost and time efficiency in engineering projects to align with the company's growth objectives.
Roles & Responsibilities
Standards Development & Implementation
- Develop standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Harmonize technical platforms and specifications globally.
Regulatory Compliance & Industry Alignment
- Ensure engineering and manufacturing practices comply with regulations.
- Monitor and integrate updates to industry standards.
Technical Support & Guidance
- Provide expertise on the application of standards in design, development, and production.
- Assist project teams in interpreting and applying standards.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
- Conduct audits to verify compliance.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality.
- Revise standards based on project defect analysis and feedback to design.
Documentation & Training
- Maintain comprehensive records and revision control processes.
- Develop and deliver training on industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with stakeholders to integrate standards into capital projects.
- Engage with regulatory bodies and industry groups to stay informed of best practices.
- Incorporate environmental objectives into product design, and manufacturing processes.
Innovation & Optimization
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
- Support investment decisions by establishing standards that maximize ROI.
- Develop and monitor KPIs to assess the impact of standardization efforts
Functional Knowledge
Functional Knowledge: Describe breadth and depth of knowledge of functional work and activities required
The role requires extensive knowledge of regulatory standards, including Employee Health & Safety, Environmental, Food Safety, and Quality Systems, ensuring compliance and integration into engineering practices. A strong understanding of industry standards such as ISO, ASME, ASTM, ANSI, IEC, or equivalent is essential for maintaining alignment with global best practices. It involves reviewing product designs for compliance with engineering principles, sustainability, and ergonomic standards, and coordinating technical developments, problem-solving, and design changes. A background in Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is key for driving operational efficiency and process improvements. Additionally, leadership in innovation management is required to align new technologies with business goals, fostering continuous improvement and ensuring the company remains competitive.
