Position Summary:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Forklift Mechanic makes a positive contribution, enabling Griffith Foods Canada to continue to grow and operate in an effective, efficient, and profitable manner. Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Forklift and other trucks fleet.

Major Responsibilities:
- Reports directly to the Team Leader, Maintenance of Griffith Foods Canada on an ongoing basis and communicates all relevant matters pertaining to operations.
- Manages fleet.
- Ensures all aspects of fleet are working smoothly within all departments.
- Makes all necessary repairs to keep fleet safe and running.
- Maintains safety problems for forklift and man lift vehicles (i.e.: annual forklift inspections by outside contractors).
- Maintains and repairs all company owned aerial man lift platforms.
- Orders service calls for forklifts and chargers, as required, also assesses if warranted or not.
- Makes sure forklifts in outside warehouses are being repaired and maintained safely.
- Manages inventory for forklift fleet.
- Prices and purchases parts, batteries and forklifts, ensuring the best pricing possible.
- Ensures PM schedule is up to date.
- Trains new personnel in forklift and battery maintenance and repairs.
- Manages and maintains both battery and forklift budgets within approved levels.
- Trains all plant personnel to safely drive forklifts, skyjacks and all rented aerial platforms.
- Maintains all forklift and aerial lift safety program, meeting all government regulations.
- Moves large equipment in and around plant, when necessary.
- Assists with plant maintenance on an as needed basis.
- Participates in special projects, other duties or tasks that may be assigned as required.
- Ensures the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment.
- Ensures compliance with all product safety, legal, and quality requirements.
- Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Specialized training in a recognized Community College program (Community College Program or equivalent) or Class A Mechanic or Millwright or Combination of work experience.
- More than 2 years of applicable experience.
- Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills with an eye for continuous improvement.
- Strong ability and ability to drive action.
