Position Details:

As Senior Financial Reporting Analyst, you will report to the Manager of Financial Reporting within our Controllership function. You will be a key contributor in the preparation and analysis of our external financial reporting process, including the quarterly and annual reports as required under U.S. GAAP and SEC. You will interface with Accounting, Finance, and global professionals across the business.

The Financial Reporting team maintains the integrity of the consolidated financial statements, and accurate information at the Total Company level for business leaders, and ensuring regulatory compliance (including SEC, FASB, and U.S. government reporting). This team is highly visible and works directly with all of Grainger's domestic and global operational business units.

The position will be flexible hybrid schedule with options to work from our Lake Forest, IL or downtown Chicago, IL location up to 2 days a week (in office).

You Will:

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports for external issuance, in compliance with the accounting and reporting requirements of the SEC and FASB, including drafting of disclosures and maintaining supporting documentation for all quarterly and annual external filings
  • Assist with the monthly close consolidation process, including analytical reviews, intercompany accounting, and financial schedules
  • Prepare, develop, and deliver and insightful Total Company financial reports for reviewing performance and to support strategic decision making to our business leaders
  • Develop and maintain internal controls with supporting documentation to support Grainger's SOX compliance
  • Assist with the research on new accounting standards issued by the FASB to interpret, assess and conclude on impact to the Company and support the implementation of new accounting standards
  • Support coordination of audit support and review filings with external auditors
  • Build effective, trusted communications with Finance and non-Finance professionals throughout the Company

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting/financial reporting experience (e.g. public accounting, experience with public clients, consolidations, or direct external reporting experience within a large accelerated filer and/or Fortune 500 company)
  • An accounting background with a solid knowledge of FASB and U.S. GAAP rules and regulations, and SOX controls compliance
  • CPA or CPA seeking preferred
  • Experience with financial accounting systems (e.g. SAP, BPC, Blackline, Workiva)
  • Ability to work independently and develop partnerships
