Position Summary:
The Inventory team at Grainger Canada manages over 500K Stock Keeping Units and $170 million across multiple distribution centres, branches, and on-sites across Canada. Our primary responsibility is to have the right product in the right place for customers, strategically balancing capital and OPEX investment of inventory dollars, labour and holding space.

The Inventory Analyst will be responsible for the daily execution and continuous improvement of inventory planning processes and policies within one of the central Inventory teams.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities (You Will):



The Inventory Analyst will be accountable for functional expertise over select planning areas within the system for specific business policies and procedures, as assigned, within the following areas:
Demand Capture
Demand Management
Forecasting
Measuring/Reporting OPM
Maintain Inventory Planning Tables
DRP/Deployment
Stocking Policy



Based on the specific assigned area of ownership, the Analyst will:
Build and maintain relationships with Supply Chain partners to develop building-specific strategies, identify constraints, and recommend and execute solutions to meet performance metric goals and support long-term supply chain objectives.
Ensure that lost demand is correctly accounted for in the demand history.
Maintain item level data and categorization of items as eligible for stocking / non-stocking product for the business.
Execute the process to transition items between stock and non-stock positions.
Ensure discretionary inventory investments are properly recorded and maintained.
Collect demand history, while ensuring that it is aggregated and filtered to enable effective forecasting.
Keep current all values for Economic Order Quantities and Inbound Multiples.
Generate all systems recommendations for stock level changes for the network.
Screen and manage demand records and manage item deployment processes. Perform system maintenance and maintain master data within planning areas and processes, as needed.
Review and analyses planning data to prepare reports for management review.
Perform ad-hoc analyses as needed.

Education/Experience (You Have):

  • Completion of post-secondary degree, preferably in Business or equivalent business experience with a minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience in Supply Chain
  • Strong analytic fundamentals, proficiency in analysing large data sets to solve problems
  • Understanding of key financial, customer service and supply chain metrics
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Uses data and analytics to tell the story to relevant business leaders
  • Project Management and continuous improvement experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; requires knowledge of downloading and uploading information via mainframe and PC systems
  • Proficiency in SQL is required, Python is a plus
  • Working knowledge of SAP Supply Chain Suite, particularly Advance Planning & Optimization or Service Parts Planning, a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is preferred
