Primary Function
This individual enables sales growth through the successful completion of cross-referencing customer MRO products to a Grainger part number. This work supports the organization's strategic demand generating and sales growth initiative. This is achieved by identifying and converting customer MRO items, or data, to an equivalent Grainger product offering by using product, and industry knowledge. Additionally, the Cross Reference Specialist is responsible for managing project work in a timely and efficient manager to deliver an exceptional customer experience
Main duties and responsibilities
- Cross-Reference existing customer product information and details to an equivalent Grainger product
- Responsible for pulling customer project from the Cross Reference system and enter specific project information to support critical business metrics associated with each customer opportunity
- Utilize Microsoft Excel functions such as formatting, sorting, filtering, etc. to process and finalize customer cross-reference opportunities
- Assess and evaluate customer product information to understand the quality of data provided and type of products to cross-reference and then determine best approach for completing the work in the most effective and timely manner
- Use information available to make quick and logical decisions. Understand your options, anticipate consequences and involve others that might be impacted.
- Follow procedures and perform routine tasks with care and attention to detail
- Use effective methods and techniques using Internet search engines, manufacturer and distributor web sites to find relevant product specifications and attributes
- Communicate with Sales and Customer Service employees submitting customer opportunities as need to understand customer need for cross reference, to obtain higher quality product information from customer or to determine best approach to cross-reference customer file that will deliver an exceptional customer experience
- Consistently communicate and collaborate with CRS team member and managers on daily progress meeting objectives and goals
- Accurately track and report daily productivity and department metrics to manager

Education and Experience
- Proficient Speaking and Writing in Spanish and English Required
- Previous MRO experience in sales or customer service or equivalent work experience in technical field (I.E. Production Maintenance, Electrical, Safety, Metal Working)
- Extensive knowledge of Maintenance, Repair and Operating product or technical experience
- Strong working knowledge of the Internet, Outlook, Excel and other various Microsoft applications
- Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills
- Able to communicate professionally with internal and external customers (written and verbal)
- Process management skills in order to collaborate cross-functionally and meet project timelines
- Must demonstrate good business judgment, decision making skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with specific internal deadlines, clarify ambiguous situations, resolve outstanding issues and react quickly to changes in direction
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, become competent in, and effectively apply new processes and technologies as well as promote change in an environment of rapidly evolving technologies.
