Category Management Intern - Fall 2025

As an intern at Imperial, we'll help you design an experience that meets your learning objectives while helping you explore how the areas of our business relate and interact. You'll enjoy a variety of day-to-day work assignments, cross-functional meetings, exposure to executive leadership, and soft skill development. Under general supervision, the Category Management Intern will research, create, maintain, and analyze various product assortments at Imperial. Internship will focus on product lifecycles with exposure to all aspects and departments of Procurement including Inventory Management, Purchasing, Procurement Ops and Sourcing. All while maintaining a focus on increasing customer participation and driving topline sales through our product mix management.

Internship details

  • Paid internship during Fall 2025
  • Duration of 12 weeks, up to 20 hours per week depending on student interest and availability
  • Willing to provide supporting documentation for students seeking school credit

Potential day-to-day responsibilities
  1. Research and complete new item setup processes to ensure all SKUs are fully enriched with appropriate attributes to drive customer experience
  2. Evaluate Product Lines through tools such as Power BI, Excel and internal reports to identify trends in product sales
  3. Collaborate with Category Managers to delve into their product lines walking through all aspects of a product life cycle - SKU Setup, maturation curve and exit.
  4. Cross functional project work includes supportive projects with Inventory Management, Purchasing, Sourcing and Procurement Ops.
  5. Determine and execute product group strategy for SKU optimization and enrichment
  6. Support customer and internal Procurement Projects and daily work flow
  7. Participate and engage with supplier base on impacted product groups and products


Internship Requirements

  • Minimum education: course of study in marketing, business, or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum experience: exposure to merchandising, eCommerce, or marketing with a demonstrated understanding of product merchandising
  • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills. Ability to multi-task. Self-motivated and results oriented. Excellent attention to detail. High level of initiative and organization, with the ability to manage ambiguity, risk, uncertainty and changing directions.
