Technical Writer, Business Application Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, computer science course material, or IT administration playbooks).
Preferred qualifications:
  • 6 years of experience in researching and writing documentation for engineers/developers, administrators, and business users.
  • Experience writing across a spectrum of content types including conceptual, task or user-journey oriented, troubleshooting, and reference.
  • Programming experience and proficiency in a UNIX environment.
  • Ability to manage priorities and adapt to changing requirements and timelines.

Technical writers plan, create, and maintain educational content as an integral part of the engineering or user experience. The content is often in the form of documentation, but may also be UI text, sample code, videos, or other educational material. Responsibilities

  • Develop empathy for our customers and immerse yourself in their workflows, needs, and challenges. Create content that integrates well with existing processes.
  • Craft content by translating user needs into written documentation, but also through alternative content forms such as video, interactive tutorials, and community interactions.
  • Own your product area. Drive valuable collaborations with cross-functional teams within BAP and Google Cloud, and build relationships to achieve shared goals.
