  • About the job

A problem isn't truly solved until it's solved for all. That's why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you'll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You'll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Our goal is to build a Google that looks like the world around us - and we want Googlers to stay and grow when they join us. As part of our efforts to build a Google for everyone, we build diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.

As a Mechanical Technical Program Manager at Google, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise to commit to designing accurate, production-scale assembly processes to produce Google Pixel products. In this role, you will research and overcome the difficulties presented by new designs, solve bottlenecks in a logical and systematic way, plan requirements with internal customers, and guide the project throughout the project lifecycle. This includes managing project progress, identifying risks, and communicating clearly with project stakeholders. You will integrate new construction designs into automated and semi-automated solutions to optimize quality and production costs, while discussing technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and optimize mechanical assembly processes from concept to production by creating robust assembly instructions, defining fixture requirements, and ensuring process scalability.
    • Lead the collaboration between engineering teams, equipment manufacturers, and Contract Manufacturers (CM). Lead the team to guide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and resolve technical challenges to ensure successful New Product Introduction (NPI).
    • Perform analysis production data, lead Failure Analysis (FA) investigations, and implement improvements to enhance the yield and production cost. Leverage Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize processes and increase automation.
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks throughout the product lifecycle with cross-functional teams to develop contingency plans and ensure smooth production ramps.
