Minimum qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in software development or 10 years with an advanced degree.
  • Experience working with automation in critical production environments, ensuring their reliability.
  • Experience leading and implementing engineering projects at an executive level within multinational organizations.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience leading large, fast-paced and dynamic engineering teams.
  • Experience defining system and/or process requirements for large-scale systems.
  • Experience developing and implementing technical programs in compute deployment/engineering, product design, or content delivery.
  • Understanding of compute and supporting product features, services, and technologies.

    As a Principal Engineer, you will provide executive level technical leadership for a large organization that is responsible for reliable operation, engineering, and evolution of Google's Cloud Compute offerings. As a Principal Engineer, you will be a technical expert and an exceptional leader, influencing projects and delivering a complex technical roadmap across multiple organizations/teams.

    The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     Responsibilities

    • Create and lead innovative programs, software, and analytics that drive improvements to the availability, scalability, efficiency, and latency of Google Cloud Compute products.
    • Work in close partnership with product leads across multiple areas, on technologies up and down Google's tall and deep stack to build fast, reliable, and durable production systems.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams building Google's Cloud Platform.
    • Work in tandem with Directors and Vice Presidents to define and execute technical strategy and arbitrate technical processes and decisions.
