Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
- 2 years of experience in coding with general purpose programming languages (e.g., C/C++ or Python)
- Experience with mobile protocol or connectivity/network protocol
- Experience in embedded RTOS or OS
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
- Experience in embedded software development and debugging
- Experience in mobile device certification tests
- Understanding of NR/LTE physical layer operation

As a Firmware Engineer on the Modem Testing Automation team, you will be responsible to ensure that the next generation Pixel products can meet all the cellular service providers' requirements and Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) requirements by performing efficient and accurate conformance testing, analyzing modem issues, and collaborating with various functional teams to resolve problems. You will also need to develop software functions to facilitate automatic, efficient, and reliable testing of Pixel modem functions.

Responsibilities
- Perform automated carrier protocol conformance tests using a test automation platform and industrial test equipment, and work with test equipment vendors to resolve test script issues.
- Automate carrier conformance tests by designing and implementing necessary software functions to facilitate test automation and improve test efficiency.
- Work across different functional teams to investigate the root-cause of protocol conformance test failures.
- Explore and execute successfully new test cases beyond the current scope, including but not limited to data performance tests.
- Analyze test failures and modem/test logs to create bug triaging rules and help develop automatic bug analysis tools.
