Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience managing projects or supporting the planning and development of strategic agreements.
  • Experience in financial modeling of energy projects and markets, utility and power sector, energy markets, rates, agreement structures, or renewable energy.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in finance or consulting, or in-house corporate development with similar responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of energy markets, rates, agreement structures and/or renewable energy.

In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Google's growth. You'll work with specific teams to oversee vendor and partner relationships. Your successful management skills have the potential to impact every part of the business and save Google millions of dollars in operating costs. You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs. You'll take lead on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to Google leadership.

The Energy and Location Strategy (ELS) team works behind the scenes to secure electric power for Google's global fleet of data centers. As a Strategic Negotiator, you will analyze and communicate trends, evaluate supply, investment opportunities, and agreement structures. You'll work with project teams to support transactions, energy portfolio planning, and vendor and partner relationship management.

In this role, you will evaluate new energy infrastructure and supply opportunities, contribute to strategic initiatives and projects, and collaborate with teams across the company in support of Google's data center portfolio and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Discuss data center energy supply and infrastructure agreements, project management activities for key projects, and initiatives including creating, building, and managing business relationships with third-parties.
  • Perform analyses (e.g., agreement structuring, power market analysis, financial forecasting) and develop salient recommendations based on modeling.
  • Interface with a variety of team members (i.e., negotiators, portfolio managers, analytics experts, etc.) and cross-company partner teams (i.e., Engineering, Finance, Accounting, etc.).
  • Support development of agreement approvals, investment memos, and other transaction-related materials.
  • Focus on modeling, analytics, and presentation of our energy procurement strategy and management of a global portfolio of energy agreements and renewable energy assets.
