Customer Engineer, Application Modernization, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience serving in the capacity of a pre-sales engineer at an enterprise technology company, or in a similar customer-facing role (e.g., within a professional services, solutions architect, or systems engineering team).
  • Experience with legacy and modern application development, cloud service delivery, and deployment and experience with containers (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) and associated technologies.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • Experience with cloud-native software development methodologies and tools within application development/deployment stages including CI/CD (i.e., Jenkins, Spinnaker, Concourse).
  • Experience in networking, virtualization, open protocols, application acceleration, VPNs and their application to PaaS and IaaS technologies, routing and firewalls, and logging and monitoring of hybrid-cloud workloads.
  • Experience with developing scalable architectures using API management, microservice frameworks, PaaS, container orchestration systems, or other applicable platforms (e.g., Knative) and large-scale VMware deployments.
  • Ability to address application security patterns including web application security, service mesh, and mobile security.

    As a Customer Engineer, you will work with the sales team to introduce Google Cloud to our customers. You will help prospective, existing customers, and partners understand the power of Google Cloud. You will develop creative cloud solutions and architectures to solve their business issues, and problem-solve any potential technical roadblocks.

    The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$180,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     Responsibilities

    • Work to identify and qualify business opportunities, identify key customer technical objections and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.
    • Manage the technical relationship with Google's customers, including managing product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of additional technical resources.
    • Work with customers to demonstrate and prototype Google Cloud product integrations, guide customers through assessments of their existing legacy application environments, provide recommendations on a prioritization roadmap for application modernization, and identify applicants applications for migration to hybrid-cloud computing models.
    • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms and application infrastructure required to implement a complete solution using best practices on Google Cloud.
    • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as needed.
