Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks).
- 1 year of experience in Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence.
- Experience writing for the web and with Markdown, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Master's degree in writing, engineering, or scientific-related field.
- 7 years of experience in technical writing spanning different technologies.
- Experience researching and writing documentation for architects, developers, and IT-operations.
- Ability to write documentation that is clear, consistent, and accurate.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment and manage multiple projects and engaging priorities.

Technical writers communicate complex information clearly, concisely and accurately, and without relying on jargon. As a technical writer, your role involves tasks such as writing conceptual overviews and procedures, reading and writing example code, or updating help center queries and FAQs. Technical writers play a big part at Google. They are a key link between developers, marketing associates, developer advocates, as well as all the external users and developers, tying together many vital but disparate parts of the Google ecosystem.
You develop complex, in-depth communications for internal and external audiences and manage projects that involve coordinating multiple junior writers.
As a Technical Writer in the Google Cloud Architecture Content team, you'll contribute to a wide variety of architecture use cases that simplify the process of designing, building, deploying, and managing applications on Google Cloud. You'll work with Solutions Architects, Customer Engineers, product managers, tech writers, and content strategists. You'll have an opportunity to meet with customers to understand their pain points, delivering solutions that will have impact and long-term value. You'll be responsible for developing content in the AI/ML domain for Cloud customers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000-$185,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others, and coach non-writers on ways to improve their writing skills.
- Work with a global team of engineers, product teams, content strategists, and other technical writers.
- Collaborate with Solutions Architects and Customer Engineers to develop cross-product architecture guidance, spanning security, networking, compute, storage, and AI/ML.
- Write technical architecture guidance, including design guides and reference architectures.
- Contribute thought leadership, helping to improve and evolve Google Cloud architecture guidance.
