About the Role

GoodRx is looking for a Manager, Data Science to lead a growing team of data scientists. Our ideal candidate is a player-coach who combines technical rigor with empathetic leadership. You will collaborate closely with product, analytics, data, marketing, engineering, and business partners to design impactful data science solutions, while also mentoring and guiding your team.

This role requires a balance of hands-on modeling and innovation with strategic leadership - setting best practices, developing roadmaps, and enabling the team to deliver insights and machine learning solutions that directly improve healthcare affordability and access.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to data scientists; foster an environment of innovation, inclusion, and technical rigor.
  • Support performance management, onboarding, and professional growth of team members.
  • Define and drive organization-wide ML and analytics roadmaps, balancing near-term impact with long-term innovation.

Business Impact & Collaboration

  • Partner with product, engineering and marketing teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
  • Deliver data science products to improve customer engagement, retention, and personalization across products and marketplaces.
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure scalable, reliable, and efficient deployment of data science solutions.

Technical Contribution:

  • Build and oversee predictive models and advanced ML/AI systems (e.g., forecasting, recommendation, CTR/CVR modeling, customer segmentation).
  • Develop state-of-the-art statistical and machine learning approaches, including pipelines that handle large-scale, high-dimensional datasets.
  • Champion experimentation and rigorous evaluation methods to ensure models meet business and latency requirements.
  • Explore new frontiers in GenAI, statistical genetics, and multimodal data (e.g., imaging, text, structured data) where relevant to GoodRx's mission.

Thought Leadership & Innovation:

  • Identify and pursue high-risk/high-reward technical directions, driving new research initiatives from concept to implementation.
  • Contribute to the broader data science community through knowledge-sharing, internal talks, or publications.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in data science with significant applied business impact; 2+ years managing or mentoring data scientists.
  • Strong technical foundation in statistical modeling, ML algorithms (tree/forest methods, clustering, optimization, regression, neural networks), and experimentation.
  • Hands-on experience with Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and cloud-based big data ecosystems (AWS, Databricks, Redshift/BigQuery, Spark).
  • Proven track record in delivering end-to-end data science models & systems (from development to production) at scale.
  • Experience with deep learning for personalization, search, recommendation, Look-alikes, optimal pricing or multimodal (text, image, structured) data.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to translate technical findings into business impact.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and adaptability in a dynamic, high-change environment.

Bonus Points:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics). Experience in healthcare, e-commerce, or other high-impact domains.
  • Demonstrated success in contributing to or publishing research that advances applied data science.
  • Prior exposure to GenAI product strategy or large-scale applied ML infrastructure.

Engineering teams are responsible for supporting appropriate security controls, including management, operational, and technical controls in addition to general GoodRx best practices, such as reading and adhering to the security policies and procedures, being vigilant and observant of potential security threats, etc.

At GoodRx, pay ranges are determined based on work locations and may vary based on where the successful candidate is hired. The pay ranges below are shown as a guideline, and the successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and other relevant business and organizational factors. San Francisco and Seattle Offices:
$202,000.00 - $323,000.00

New York Office:
$185,000.00 - $296,000.00

Santa Monica Office:
$168,000.00 - $269,000.00

Other Office Locations:
$151,000.00 - $242,000.00
