We are looking for a professional to join our Investment Banking team in London and use their skills and ideas to make an impact to the success of Goldman Sachs.

Debt Capital Markets:

The EMEA DCM team originates, structures and executes bond financings for investment grade corporate clients, sovereigns and financial institutions. Typical transactions include senior bonds, MTN private placements, bank capital / insurance capital bonds and corporate hybrid bonds. The DCM team focuses on deals for EMEA issuers (both developed and growth markets) in local as well as overseas markets. The team also works on a range of bespoke projects for its clients including capital structure analysis and acquisition financing. The group works closely with classic investment banking as well as the associated product groups to execute bond financings or structured solutions. The group also works closely with the Syndicate desk, which sits between capital markets, banking and sales and trading, and is responsible for marketing, pricing and distributing new bond issues. The team collaborates with the DCM and Syndicate teams in Hong Kong and New York for global clients and for globally-distributed issuances.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities of a Junior Banker:

Junior bankers in the team have responsibilities across both financing and risk management products. Responsibilities include:

  • Advise companies on financing in the context of acquisitions, capital return, or ongoing working capital and refinancing needs
  • Prepare client materials (including pitches, term sheets, product and market comparisons, market updates, sector specific news flow and market implication, regulatory developments); monitor interest rate and foreign exchange markets and distribute market update materials both internally to IB and externally to clients
  • Work closely with senior bankers and clients to prepare hedging and derivative strategies that meet corporates' unique needs; assess different products' impact on corporate financial metrics of companies such as earnings, leverage, cash flow and valuation
  • Manage authoring and coordinating committee documents for both principal lending (relationship loans) and debt underwriting (bond deals, acquisition financing and structured bespoke solutions)
  • Assist in client coverage, keeping them up to date with risk management trends and funding opportunities in the market
  • Assist in drafting debt investor marketing materials and other external deal processes including the drafting of offering memoranda, managing the rating agency process, and coordinating roadshow logistics and debt investor queries
  • Help manage internal deal processes which include performing business, financial and legal diligence, and educating internal risk and control groups; act as a liaison with other groups within the firm including sales and trading to obtain information required for modelling, pricing and structuring risk management trades
  • Could involve execution of derivatives transactions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Up to 3 years' investment banking or equivalent experience
  • History of outstanding academic and professional achievement
  • Strong team orientation and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members in multiple groups and regions

Additional Information:

Junior bankers in the team can expect to receive a tremendous amount of responsibility early in their career with opportunity to take on client-facing roles relatively quickly. The desk has a relatively flat organizational structure and allows for a high degree of interaction with senior bankers and direct interaction with clients. From executing market risk transactions for companies with traders, to providing market updates and other client service, junior bankers' responsibilities will increase rapidly.
