Controllers, ESG Controllers (Management Reporting), Associate

Role Overview:

The successful applicant will have a role within the Management Reporting team focused on the firm's ESG reporting requirements and sustainability initiatives. Primary responsibilities currently include assisting in the collection, preparation and analysis of reports focused on the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), as well as progress towards the firm's announced targets of sustainable finance activity and net zero carbon commitments. Regulatory inquiries, proposed disclosure requirements and additional sustainability initiatives are expected to expand the scope of the team's responsibilities. Key deliverables include implementation and reporting of CSRD, monthly/quarterly/annual progress reporting on sustainability initiatives, reporting materials to senior management, and review of senior executive and board of director presentations and external disclosures and reports. Diligence, attention to detail, and superb analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills are a must. The applicant should also possess the ability and confidence to work well with a broad range of teams across the firm, consistently deliver and meet tight reporting deadlines, have a very strong team focus, be able to multi-task and have excellent writing skills. ESG and financial services related experience is especially useful. Experience in producing management reporting is a plus.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory requirements implementation and reporting
    • Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive
  • Reporting and analysis on progress of firmwide sustainability initiatives (for both internal and external reporting purposes), including:
    • The firm's 10-year target of $750 billion in sustainable finance activity by 2030,
    • The firm's long-term commitment to align our business with a net zero by 2050 pathway, including 2030 interim targets
  • Review of external and internal disclosures and reports, including:
    • Annual Sustainability Report
    • Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures Report
  • For each of the above, ensuring timely submission of inputs and deliverables, participating in review meetings with subject matter experts, preparing detailed analyses, analyzing disclosures, and coordinating review materials for Senior Management
  • Coordination and heavy interaction with firmwide Sustainable Finance Group, divisional CFO teams, divisional Controllers, and Risk, as well as interaction with numerous other internal departments.

Experience/Skills:

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting (preferred), or other business discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in ESG, Public Accounting or in Financial Services industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities (e.g., time management and efficiency)
  • Strong analytical skills (i.e. being able to identify and research issues)
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills are a must. An understanding of financial product and/or ESG terminology is preferable.
  • Self-motivated and results driven

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $85000-$140000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
