Asset & Wealth Management Private Credit

Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management Private Credit is one of the world's largest alternative credit investing platforms with approximately $100bn of AUM and investment professionals based in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia.

GS Private Credit is a dynamic platform with significant cross-pollination across strategies - direct lending (middle market and large cap performing credit), opportunistic and structured investments across debt and equity.

The team originates, executes and manages credit investments across Direct Lending and Hybrid Capital strategies, deploying our senior, mezzanine and hybrid drawdown credit funds and the Firm's balance sheet.

Direct Lending invests alongside the world's leading financial sponsors in support of LBO transactions and other financing transactions for sponsors' portfolio companies for companies with EBITDA ranging from $10mm to $100+mm across a wide range of industries.

Hybrid Capital provides solutions for businesses seeking non-control alternatives to traditional private equity or growth equity, cost of capital optimization or greater flexibility than traditional debt.

The Japan Private Credit team primarily focuses on mezzanine, preferred equity and hybrid capital financing to leading financial sponsors.

Responsibilities

  • The team is looking to hire a Senior Associate / Vice President to cover the Japan market and run the entire deal life-cycle including:
  • Coverage: Maintaining active dialogue with sponsors, advisors and management teams
  • Origination: Originating investment ideas across the product suite of the Private Credit team via early engagement with sponsors and advisors
  • Due Diligence and Execution: Leading all aspects of DD on the business, legal documentation and other analysis to support an investment decision at the Private Credit Investment Committee
  • Investment monitoring: Active monitoring of the investment including being an observer on company boards and having regular dialogue with the management team and shareholders

Qualifications

  • 4 + years of experience in investment banking, leveraged finance or private credit roles in Japan
  • Strong academic record with Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Business Studies, Engineering or a related discipline from a distinguished academic institution
  • Strong quantitative, financial modeling, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with financial sponsors strongly preferred
  • Native level Japanese and strong business level English required
