Goldman Sachs is one of the world's largest asset managers with the industry's leading Separately Managed Account (SMA) and multi-asset franchise. What sets Goldman Sachs apart in the SMA and models space, and what makes this role so unique, is the firm's breadth of managed account capabilities - Goldman has a leading capability in Direct Indexing, Fixed Income, Multi Asset, and portfolio construction expertise.

Goldman Sachs Wealth Customized Solutions (WCS) capabilities consist of:

1. A suite of portfolio customization capabilities to help CIOs and Advisors with their core portfolio design incorporating Funds, ETFs, SMAs, Alts

2. A suite of SMA capabilities including direct indexing, active equity, and fixed income SMAs

Goldman Sachs is hiring to accelerate the build-out of the commercial strategy and execution for these businesses.

Role Overview

The head of the SMA Commercial Leads team will be the "right-hand" to the head of Wealth Customized Solutions to draft strategy and lead through to execution for our SMA business. This role will function as one of three business heads across three WCS business lines (SMAs, Models, and Total Portfolio.) This role requires a great deal of partnership, collaboration and execution spanning many internal teams including Wealth Sales, Sales Enablement, Investment (MAS, FI, FE, WIS, ETFs), Marketing, Legal, to develop comprehensive strategy and drive GSAM's 3rd party distribution strategy for our SMA business (Direct Indexing, Taxable and Muni FI SMA).

We are hiring a highly energetic, self-starter with an entrepreneurship-like spirit to oversee business strategy and execution to grow the franchise. You must be able to think at the 60k foot level, articulate the strategy, and outline the sequence of steps at the 500-foot level to see through to completion.

Responsibilities

• Partner with National Accounts on placement prioritization and wealth sponsor firm specialized data pulls that inform a highly targeted sales approach at prioritized firms to develop targeted Advisor campaigns

• Outline a multi-year commercial roadmap that requires product development (strategies, features, functionality) and placement roadmap and partner with internal Investment, Tech, and Ops partners for execution.

• Represent the full SMA platforms with Wealth clients at major broker dealers, and RIA C-suite.

• Develop a solutions-based selling system that embeds Goldman as an essential partner to the advisor's practice/firm by leveraging the breadth of Goldman's capabilities.

• Build-out Specialists team strategy (SMA, Models, Portfolio Design Consultants) with coverage maps, target Advisor lists, KPIs, management & pipeline reporting.

• Partner with Business Enablement and Sales Management teams to develop SMA pipeline reporting and KPI tracking.

• Lead and develop a team of 5 internal advisor experience specialists, the SMA Advisor Experience team.

• Design and implement regional trainings for our national specialist and wholesaler network.

• Draft custom client proposals in partnership with client coverage team.

• Partner with marketing and investing teams to develop sales collateral to be leveraged for our broader Third-Party Wealth sales organization.

• Execute key initiatives applying the hallmarks of sound program management and inspirationally lead horizontally across the organization.

• Provide leadership, collaboration, and community in matrix organization via Customized Solutions OpCo with key partners in Sales, Investment, Tech, and Ops.

• Embrace Goldman Sachs's culture of collaboration and closely partner with Sales, Product, Investment, Legal & compliance, and more.

Skills/Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in business leadership and platform development.

• Business builder with an entrepreneurship-like spirit who enjoys operating with plenty of white space to design a strategy.

• Series 7 and 63 preferred

• Tenacious commercial animal and sweats the details.

• Flexible, responsive, and self-starting personality. Demonstrated experience influencing/leading by inspiration in a highly collaborative, matrixed environment.

• Strong writing and visualization skills - one who can make the complex simple, who can succinctly articulate a benefits-oriented value proposition.

• Deep understanding of the asset management and wealth advisory markets.

• Intellectual agility and pragmatic personality, with the talent to adapt to an evolving environment.

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125000-$290000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
