Structured Private Debt
Within the Alternative Credit platform of Goldman Sachs asset Management (GSAM) we are looking for a portfolio manager at the Associate level to join our Structured Private Debt team, which develops and manages a range of innovative asset-based investment solutions including Trade Receivables and Export Finance for our global clients.

This is an opportunity to play an important role in the continued success and development of our structured business, and get exposure to the full spectrum of the team's activities, which are varied and challenging. Those encompass transaction origination and underwriting, structuring and financial engineering, risk management, transaction execution, and client communication. Client focus and creativity are the cornerstones of our business. We strive towards an entrepreneurial, flexible, and open culture, where we work collaboratively with teams across GSAM on initiatives that further improve overall performance and enable us to anticipate our clients' evolving needs.

The investment ambitions of our clients may be simply risk or return focused, but often also are informed by ALM, accounting, or regulatory capital considerations. We work closely to identify and align with these, and make use of structured finance techniques to help them to efficiently express their positioning via tailored investment solutions. As such, our asset focus is broad and can vary widely both in terms of investment risk (underlying exposures and objectives) and delivery (fixed income instruments, structured finance vehicles, and sometimes including the use of derivatives).

  • Initiate and research new investment ideas, write detailed credit proposals.
  • Project manage transaction operations including coordinating with multiple departments within the organization: Specifically, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations.
  • Monitor, develop, challenge, and enhance current investment strategies and processes, specifically with regards to technical/data innovation and promoting ESG best practice.
  • Contribute to ensuring reporting excellence towards our clients.
  • Contribute to platform expansion and potentially the introduction of new investment strategies

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of work experience in fixed income at a bank, asset manager, rating agency, or other relevant financial institution
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently as well as thrive in a fast-paced team environment
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and excellent follow-through
  • Knowledge and appreciation for processes around operational nuances as well as portfolio management metrics
  • Strong interpersonal skills: Ability to build trust and confidence of colleagues, strengthen relationships through ongoing dialog and interactions, and collaborate well with others
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Curiosity, strong critical thinking skills, and passion for problem-solving
