Why North America Commercial Credit Underwriting at GM Financial?
With a growing portfolio of more than 2,000 automotive dealerships, a role on the North America Commercial Credit Underwriting team provides a critical service within GMF's risk management and dealer services platform; we identify, analyze and provide solutions to mitigate risk through an ongoing analysis of automotive dealer operations for our existing portfolio of dealerships and for new dealership acquisitions.
This high visibility, accounting and finance-based role on our growing team offers significant exposure to senior management at GMF and draws upon a range of skills such as accounting, financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and technical writing, all in a hybrid work setting.

In our group, you will have the opportunity to learn and work with GMF's entire suite of asset-based lending solutions, including our wholesale floorplan credit line offering as well as an array of commercial loan products, each tailored to meet the needs of our dealership customers. In addition, we provide significant training resources to enhance skill development, and offer the chance to develop and maintain strong relationships with other departments within the organization.
This position will be located in Irving, Texas and following a hybrid work model. Hybrid (Combination of work from home and in-assigned office location)
RESPONSIBILITIES
About the role:
As the Manager Commercial Credit-Underwriting you will develop the infrastructure for commercial lending to automotive dealerships, including floorplan, construction and permanent real estate loans, capital loans, revolving lines of credit, and equipment loans. Research and recommend lending guidelines, programs, pricing strategies, and operating efficiencies. You will also provide and oversee support for sales, business development, and commercial account manager teams. Set and monitor credit analyst goals and provides guidance and strategy for meeting department objectives. Additionally, you will contribute to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth.
In this role you will:
- Develop internal capabilities for commercial lending to automotive dealerships
- Manage all aspects of commercial credit underwriting for floorplan, term loans, construction loans, and real estate loans
- Develop and implements strategy for field sales support and serves as a point of contact for new credit requests
- Develop commercial lending system strategies and manages implementation
- Provide leadership, coaching, guidance and training for credit analyst development
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Conform with all company policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
What makes you a dream candidate?
- Proven track record in commercial lending with emphasis in automotive commercial financing
- Extensive knowledge of accounting, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, and credit underwriting
- Knowledge and understanding of automotive dealership operations
- Thorough computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Microsoft Access knowledge preferred
- Detailed oriented and capable of managing multiple opportunities simultaneously
- Team player with strong leadership and motivational skills
- Strong customer services skills
- Excellent analytical and project management skills are required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation, interpersonal, and persuasive skills
- Ability to interface with all levels of management
Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience required
- 3-5 years of directly related professional level experience in an automotive commercial lending environment, including experience in creating and presenting ideas to executive management preferred
- 2-4 years in a management role, providing leadership, coaching, guidance and training and contributing to staff development preferred
