RESPONSIBILITIES
What you'll be doing:
- Direct the activities of the general ledger area.
- Review general ledger.
- Prepare and approve accounting entries.
- Review monthly account reconciliations
- Prepare / review daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting.
- Participate in special projects as necessary.
- Provide guidance on the operation of the general ledger system
- Promote a cooperative and productive work environment while developing and mentoring accounting staff
- Develop and enhance processes and controls to maintain the integrity of GM Financial's financial reporting systems.
- Provide analytical support as requested to Financial Reporting, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, and other business groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
What makes you the dream candidate?
- Strong background with automated accounting systems.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Working knowledge of account reconciliations.
- Working knowledge of the Accounting Standards Codification.Ability to lead, coach, and mentor team members.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Possess the skills necessary to operate various office equipment
- Good Leadership skills.
- Perform analysis on monthly financial statements and also on complex transactions.
- SQL and/or SAS experience preferred.
- Ability to analyze large sets of data.
- Ability to detect patterns of inconsistencies in large sets of data
- Analytical ability necessary to evaluate complex transactions and also to prepare / review various reconciliations.
Experience:
- 5-7 years experience in public or general accounting and/or financial analysis
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or related experience Required
