RESPONSIBILITIES

The Accountant III prepares journal entries, performs and assists others with difficult and involved reconciliations, researches and assists others with exceptions, and analyized trends and costs to validate results. This team member relies on several years of experience and judgment to plan and accomplish job functions and closing activities. The Accountant III should feel comfortable taking initiative and working with very limited supervision. The Accountant III will also interact with other departments and/or external parties when necessary.

In this role you will:

  • Prepare and input complex journal entries to the general ledger
  • Calculate and validate accruals and assist and guide others with the same
  • Prepare reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts and also assists and guides others
  • Research, document, and resolve difficult reconciling items - requires advanced problem solving capabilities
  • Prepare external and internal audit schedules
  • Prepare complex monthly management reports and analysis - includes ad-hoc and one-time requires with little or no direction
  • Lead requirements related to documentation and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Question and investigate unusual or non-routine transactions and account balance variances


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong background with automated accounting systems.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Working knowledge of account reconciliations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Access Database.
  • Working knowledge understanding of financial statements.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Subject to stressful situations.
  • Normal office environment.
  • Work additional hours based on production demands requiring mandatory overtime.

Work Experience & Education

  • 5-7 years experience in public or general accounting and/or financial analysis, preferably with a financial services background Pref
  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Associate Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business with an Accounting major or Finance with a strong Accounting emphasis Required
  • Master's Degree
