We are looking for a strategic, creative, and collaborative Visual Merchandising Designer to join our Creative team.  Our in-house Creative team is responsible for a wide range of work. We take an inclusive, discerning, and personalized approach to Glossier’s retail and experiential projects, ensuring they reflect the values of Glossier.

This role will be responsible for coming up with design solutions, establishing and managing design development, and upholding guidelines which support brand storytelling and drive product discovery within the wholesale environment. This individual should have experience developing and rendering creative concepts into physical displays (i.e. front of store displays, gondola design, activations, and events as related to a wholesale environment), developing necessary files for production and fabrication, and managing a network of vendor relationships to highlight compelling product stories within budget.

The Visual Merchandising Designer is a key role as we think more holistically about the world of Glossier across different customer touchpoints. This role will report into our Retail Design Director and act as a bridge between Wholesale, Retail, Marketing and the broader Creative team–ensuring that the Glossier brand vision is represented within the wholesale environment, for both new launches and evergreen campaigns.

Six Month Expectations 

  • Lead, collaborate and develop impactful, scalable wholesale display systems.
  • Develop advanced understanding of the Glossier brand through store visits, collaboration, and design explorations.
  • Develop product layouts and merchandising strategy for wholesale locations, taking into account product highlights, hierarchy, functionality, and intuitiveness.
  • Maintain the ongoing development and updates of visual display systems.
  • Attend regular meetings, ensuring a strong understanding of Glossier visual language and how it is applied to broader channels..
  • Partner with marketing, wholesale, and the wider creative team to execute ongoing design projects and launches.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key internal and external partners
  • Source where applicable and manage existing relationships with external vendors to deliver against visual merchandising deadlines and overarching company goals.
  • Establish channels of communication with field teams to actively collect feedback, suggestions, and questions, applying them to ongoing design development.

Twelve Month Expectations

  • Understand the Glossier brand while continuing to apply and connect brand touchpoints to our wholesale presence.
  • Work seamlessly with internal and external partners while navigating different display opportunities and asks.
  • Manage contractors as necessary.
  • Identify opportunities and solutions for evolving our wholesale design presence through the brand lens.

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in visual merchandising in beauty retail environments
  • Experience working collaboratively to bring creative concepts to life
  • Strong understanding of print file handling, and a sense of typography, image, and visual hierarchy.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and working within budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative in a changing environment.
  • Advanced computer application competency, specifically Adobe Creative Suite and Project management software.
  • Proficiency in Rhino and Keyshot
  • This role will be based at our headquarters in NYC

In accordance with the applicable law, the following represents a good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum compensation range for this position:

The estimated annual pay range for this role is $82,000 - $106,000. There may be future opportunities for continued pay progression based on continued strong performance in the role.Full-time positions are also eligible for a competitive compensation and benefits package that include medical health insurance, 401K,  equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units, Paid Time Off, Short Term and Long Term Disability leave, and a range of other benefits. Compensation for the role will be determined based on permissible, non discriminatory factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
