The Machinist Apprentice and Tool Room Cell Leader will provide daily leadership across all shifts in support of shop operations and strategic guidance over the Machinist Apprenticeship Program (MAP).
Job Description
What you'll do
- Provide leadership and strategic guidance for the Tool Room, the Machinist Apprenticeship Program, and the Fixture Inspection Process
- Drive recruiting activities with local colleges and career centers; engage on Advisory Boards of key partners
- Manage multiple projects by providing scheduling and resource management direction including internal fixture build needs
- Work cross-functionally across the factory, engineering, sourcing, AMRT, and other organizations to meet business needs
- Communication and coordination of work assignments and priorities
- Identify employee training needs; develop & execute improvement plans
- Has autonomy to make decision within a defined framework including resolution of issues that require good technical knowledge and judgement.
- Resolve shop issues involving equipment, machinery, and tooling
- Responsible for direct team development and growth through hiring, priority setting, and regular performance reviews
- Own employee accountability, discipline, Time & Attendance, and Reward & Recognition
- Drive continuous improvement across all shifts
- Actively support the safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals of the business

What you'll bring (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's Degree, Associates Degree, Apprentice Graduate in a machining related program, or 7 years manufacturing experience in a machine tool environment
- 5 years manufacturing experience in machine tool environment
Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability to work off-shift or flexible schedule at times as required by project timelines
- This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
- This position is 100% onsite at the GE Vernova Greenville, SC Garlington Road location
What will make you stand out
- Gas Turbine manufacturing experience a plus
- Strong problem solving and organization skills, with above average shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry.
- Hands on machining experience - Machinist Apprentice graduate or MTT degree
- Ability to take initiative and work autonomously - self driven
- Ability to deliver real-time feedback to hourly associates
- Ability to effectively communicate to multiple levels of the organization, both verbally and through written communication
- Ability to multi-task and productively manage multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to accept new challenges, take ownership, and make decisions
Pay Transparency
For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $103,100.00 - $171,800.00 Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This posting is expected to close on or after August 30, 2025.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
