Essential Responsibilities:
As the Test Facility Technician, you will:

- inspect, troubleshoot, repair, install, adjust, and maintain mechanical and rotating systems and equipment
- utilize technical procedures, drawings, equipment specifications, and repair instructions to ensure proper specifications are met
- utilize precision measuring instrumentation such as digital low resistance ohmmeters, meggers, micrometers, and others to calibrate, test, and adjust equipment for proper operating characteristics
- complete preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of essential operating systems to ensure reliability. Systems include:
- Oil lubrication (main, gear, seal, and high-pressure)
- Drive motor
- Shafting
- Planetary Drive Gearbox
- Controls / Control Room Instrumentation
- Ventilation systems
- Vacuum systems
- Power (excitation, transformer, and emergency)
- Cooling water
- Low Speed Balancing Machine (Schenck-Trebel)
- connect lubrication piping to and from equipment, and test to evaluate proper operation
- monitor equipment using a Human Machine Interface (HMI) during testing
- assemble equipment or adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts to set specified clearances by fastening to foundation or other structures
- measure and insert shims between moving and stationary parts
- move machinery and equipment using overhead crane, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
- lay out mounting holes using measuring instruments and drill holes with power drill or press
- bolt assemblies to basic assembly units
- dismantle equipment, using hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and hydraulic tools
- shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, gears, and hubs to specified items using portable gas heating equipment
- dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment to installation site, storage area or warehouse
- operate small mechanical lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications
- install and test instrumentation with special equipment and verify systems output on balancing software
Qualifications / Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing, service facility, or public environment; applying electrical and mechanical principle in repair, installation, and maintenance
Eligibility Requirements:
- This position is 100% onsite at GE Richmond, VA Repair Center
- Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future.
- This position has the ability to work on 1st, 2nd or a rotating shift; must be flexible for either (1st: 7am-3:30pm / 2nd: 11pm - 7:30am; times may vary based on OT needs)
- Ability and willingness to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability and willingness to obey all safety rules including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection in designated areas
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends, as business needs dictate

- Prior experience in a Power Plant operations environment;
- Ability to understand blueprints and technical drawings;
- Ability to understand and use precision measuring equipment;
- Basic understanding of math related to repairs and manufacturing;
- Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve problems;
- Demonstrated ability to adapt, be flexible, and maintain enthusiasm during periods of change to schedule and repair parameters;
- Lean manufacturing experience;
- Ability to focus on multiple projects and priorities at one time, manage time effectively, and allocate resources efficiently
Pay Transparency:
The pay for this position is a C-Level role at $25.25 - $31.50/hr. for early career hires (B-Level Range: $32.00 - $34.25). This position is also eligible for a $2.00/hour shift differential hourly rate increase. This posting is expected to close on May 17, 2025 or thereafter.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a posting for a C Level, but based on experience, employees have the ability to be hired in at or progress to higher levels, B and A level. (B-Level Range: $32.00 - $34.25)
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
