Job Description Summary

GE Power Conversion Division provides Electrical Power Conversion Systems for various Naval and Marine applications. Typical scope includes MV & LV power converters, motors, transformers, switchgear, and control as well as the associated power systems engineering.
The Technical Writer will be responsible for the data organization, it will be a strong emphasis on integrated naval electrical systems and associated components. Our Naval customers have come to rely on GE to prepare customized technical reports / documentation, parts ordering data, and assistance in obsolescence management for North America.

  • Create high quality technical manuals to customer specification from information developed from our engineering and procurement teams
  • Organize obsolescence studies for finding replacement components for parts no longer support by our supply chain
  • Documents and translates product technical information into easily comprehensible language.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce high-quality documentation and contribute to larger teams on projects as needed
  • Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • Collaborates with others to resolve issues with technical documentation.
  • Develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE for logistics issues.
  • Maintain ownership technical documentation created.
  • Ensure documents are completed within schedule and budget.
  • Interface with customers and vendors to ensure requirements and expectations are understood.
  • Interface with Sourcing, Purchasing, and Parts Team to ensure suppliers are providing required information.
  • As part of the engineering organization, raise obsolescence issues to engineering management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (OR Engineering Degree with a minimum of 2 years experience in technical writing)
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
