Job Description Summary

• Electrical & Instrumentation Design Engineer - Design, validate and implement electrical and automation equipment control system hardware for industrial projects to meet customer requirements.
• Create and maintain electrical schematic drawings / General Arrangement drawings / Bill of Materials, Cable Schedules, Termination Schedules throughout project life cycle.
• Provide Technical interface to the customer and suppliers.
• Liaise with cross functional Team, Sales, Project, Commissioning and Service teams.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Be part of a multi-disciplined project team, control system development and Validation for different domain projects.
  • Establish and maintain contract design documentation.
  • Improve the efficiency of the engineering process, through development and use of standard engineering solutions for projects.
  • Manage change using the engineering change control system.
  • Liaise with other company, customers, suppliers and sub-contractors in order to support the project execution.
  • Adapt project specific system design for different applications.
  • Comply with all company and customer health and safety regulations.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor / Master degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation engineering
  • 1 to 2 years of industrial electrical design experience
  • Hands on experience on the design tools such as Visio, AutoCAD, E-Plan, etc.,
  • Understanding Customer Requirements and produce Electrical & Automation design documents and schematics.
  • Preparation of drawings for electrical systems & Instrumentation systems. Should be able to interpret Schematic, P&I & Plant Layout diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Automation Hardware engineering comprising of PLC, IO Modules, other peripherals, Panel Engg. Etc.,
  • Very good knowledge and experience in:
  • Industrial wiring standards
  • Automation network system
  • Electrical circuit and field theory / network analysis
  • Panel building materials & their specifications
  • Control Desk building materials & their specifications
  • Cable Types & variants
  • Cable sizing, wire sizing for control panels
  • Earthing connections
  • Electrical / Drive System, LT switchgears, rectifiers & their operations
  • Understanding the Emergency-Stop circuits of the plant
  • Knowledge the IEC standards relevant to electrical panels & automation systems
  • Should be able to work independently on projects
  • Understanding of the working of Process Instruments
  • Good knowledge on MS Office software, particularly in Microsoft excel & it's advanced features.
  • Support ongoing project with strict timelines as per company's OTR process.
  • Actively engage with project teams to provide solutions for the project that technically fit the purpose.
  • Identify technical risks and put in place the mitigation plan for the same.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all company and customer's EHS policies and procedures.
  • Identify and propose improvements in processes, tools, system solutions and technologies, rolling out improvements when agreed with leadership team.
  • Liaise with other GE businesses, platform verticals, supply chain, sub-contractors, and suppliers as appropriate to support the project and the business.

Desired Characteristics

  • Hands on experience in PLC programming to test communication, I/O test etc.,
  • Basic knowledge in processes like metals, test benches, mining, etc.,
  • Experience of system integration working on multi-discipline projects
  • Working a multi-disciplined international team with good personal organization skills.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Willing to travel on short notice within base country and overseas for short/long term assignments.
