Stores Operative - Semi-Skilled

Job Description Summary

The Stores Operative Field Service role will ideally have experience and training within a service tooling environment. The role will be predominantly based at HPC New Build and may on occasions support travel to other customer Power Plants in the UK supporting our external customers, with installation, overhaul, inspection, maintenance activities and reassembly of power units and their auxiliaries on units ranging from 2MW through to 2000MW World class execution done with Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost mindset.
The positions requires the stores operative to learn technical competence in reading and interpreting Engineering Documentation ie Calibration Certificates, Tool Tracking System, COSHH management etc. An understanding of basic Mechanical Engineering would be desirable, basic IT skills are a requirement of the role

Job Description

Essential Function & Responsibilities

  • Follow Appropriate GE Policies, Procedures and complete necessary documentation.
  • Comply with the integrity and compliance guidelines as well as promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with applicable EHS policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate equipment issues and liaise with the appropriate services for repairs or replacement.
  • Develop an understanding of Tooling Management.
  • Perform other suitable duties as assigned or required.
  • Work under strict Foreign Material Exclusion rules.
  • The role will be responsible for the controlled issuing of tooling and identification of shortfalls in tooling which needs to be ordered for site.
  • Review system records to ensure resources have training certificates in date for the tools they are requesting to be issued.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Travel to and from various field assignments may be required.
  • Advantageous to have forklift license or open to be trained.
  • IT Literate
  • Full Driving License
  • Fluent in English language
  • This position will be subject to nuclear vetting

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience and training on tooling requirements in a service outage background or tool centre an advantage.
  • Understanding of recognized tooling used by Alstom, GE, Siemens, or other OEM equipment would be an advantage.
