Responsible for delivering new, commercially analytics solutions to drive growth in asset, application and industry coverage supportable product support teams.
Provides specialized expertise in sustained customer success throughout product lifecycle by leveraging engineering, training, professional services, and technical support.

Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution with focus on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work targeting optimization of end results, and meeting highest standards of customers acceptability (quality, project schedules etc.).

Job Description

You will leverage standard suite of platform and core module analytics & algorithms, software application capabilities, strong engineering and analytics backgrounds.
In this role, you will have end-to-end responsibilities on large and complex IT projects associated to the Management of Electrical Transmission (EMS) and Distribution (DMS) Networks and related applications (e.g. WAMS, DERMS) to meet the quality commitments, schedules, and costs.
You will collaborate with key technical and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across the organization and customer representatives for knowledge capture and integration of corresponding requirements into the delivered solutions.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • In the context of Software Solutions (SWS) projects execution within the Services organization, the Senior Power Systems Engineer (SPSE) ensures that all the various power systems models and applications, software and databases are designed and engineered to ensure optimal performance.
  • To accomplish this role the SPSE must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with Implementation Services teams including Delivery Managers, Software Factories/Developers, Delivery Centers, and with customer representatives.
  • Responsible of all power systems applications, working closely with the Delivery Manager guiding the activities of the project team. The responsibilities related to power systems applications include engineering, software adaptation and parametrizations, validate the different related data bases (e.g. Network, SCADA), validate the related connections with Transmission Monitoring and Control systems, tuning, testing, trainings.
  • Owner of the applications and configuration management, including integration of customer data model and different customs that might be required depending on the project requirements.
  • Provides feedback and contributes to team on optimal designs (return of experience) in the context of solutions engineering.
  • Collaborates with project team to proactively ensure that all systems setup and configuration tasks are complete to achieve solution acceptance by customer. Conduct rigorous testing and validation of software functionalities against real-world or customer provided scenarios and industry standards to ensure reliability and accuracy. Provide expertise in resolving technical or data base related issues that might impact the power system functionalities within the software.
  • Delivers applications and systems documentation including applications and systems documentations, modeling specifications, systems installation guides, maintenance documents, testing procedures and training documents.
  • Support customers and end-users by explaining technical functionalities, providing training, and when possible, incorporating feedback into product improvements.

Main job responsibilities:

  • Software applications deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Test software solutions customizations.
  • Analyze and validate databases.
  • Systems implementation and performing acceptance tests - FAT / SAT (on site, with the customer)

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Engineer, master's or bachelor's degree from an accredited Power Systems university. Ideal subjects: Power Systems Study and Control Applications, Power Systems Operation Optimizations, Wide Area Monitoring Systems, Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in Real Time Power Systems Monitoring and Control Systems - operation, integration, development, maintenance, testing and commissioning.

Good Technical Knowledge and Experience is expected in the following domains:

1. Power Systems Applications:

  • Power Flow and Optimal Power Flow,
  • Contingency Analysis,
  • Short-circuit Calculations,
  • State Estimator,
  • Power Systems Dynamics Models,
  • System Stability Analysis,
  • WAMS theory, models, applications,
  • DERMS theory, models, applications.

2. Relational and Hierarchical Databases.
3. Source Code Management/Versioning software.
4. Windows and Linux operating systems.

Desired Characteristics

  • Technically good performer who can integrate, design, engineer and test complex software systems to completion with a minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Rigorous, methodical, well organized, and self-disciplined.
  • Take initiatives, good trouble-shooter and autonomous.
  • Adaptability, reactivity, and availability.
  • Ability to analyze complex topics and make a verbal/written synthesis.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory (French language skills represent an advantage)
  • Ability and willingness to travel
